Hall of Fame to Host Holiday Celebration Saturday
Museum Visitors Will Enjoy Pathfinder Village Hand Bell Choir and Rockin’ Around Cooperstown; Free Admission with Food Bank Donation
(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – Baseball fans can help make the season merrier for families in need and experience the magic of the holidays in Cooperstown at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum’s annual Holiday Celebration.
The Hall of Fame will host its Holiday Celebration on Saturday, Dec. 6, with family-friendly activities throughout the day in the Museum. In the spirit of the holidays, all Museum visitors receive free admission all day on Saturday with the donation of at least two non-perishable food items. All donations support Opportunities for Otsego and the Cooperstown Food Bank.
Events in the Museum on Saturday include:
11:30 a.m. – The Plaques of the Gallery (Membership Desk, 1st Floor)
Learn about the history of the Hall of Fame Gallery and the process by which each plaque is made and installed in this 20-minute guided tour.
12:30 p.m. – Rockin’ Around Cooperstown Ugly Sweater Run/Walk (Front Steps, Hall of Fame)
Join us on the front steps of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum as we cheer on runners and walkers as they kick off the start of a run through historic Cooperstown in their ugliest holiday sweaters. Sponsored by the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce and the Clark Sports Center.
2 p.m. – Holiday Performance: Pathfinder Village Bell Choir (Hall of Fame Plaque Gallery, 1st Floor)
Join us in the Hall of Fame Gallery for a holiday tradition at the National Baseball Hall of Fame: A special performance by the Pathfinder Village Bell Choir. Pathfinder Village is a community in Edmeston, N.Y., dedicated to serving individuals with Down syndrome.
2:30 p.m. – Holiday Craft Area (Learning Center, 1st Floor)
Visit our holiday craft area in the Learning Center and make your own baseball-themed Christmas tree. Deck your tree out to celebrate your favorite team!
The Museum’s updated Autumn Glory exhibit will also be open. The exhibit features several artifacts from the 2014 Major League Baseball postseason, including the cap worn by World Series Most Valuable Player Madison Bumgarner during Games 1, 5, and 7 of the Fall Classic and a bat used by the Giants’ Pablo Sandoval in Game 7.
