Whole New Ballgame

The Museum’s "Whole New Ballgame" exhibit tells the story of baseball from 1970 to today. The exhibit features more than 300 artifacts and explores iconic moments like Carlton Fisk’s home run in Game 6 of the 1975 World Series, game-altering rule changes like the designated hitter and labor challenges that redefined the fiscal boundaries of the sport. The last half century of baseball has included some of the game’s most iconic moments and significant changes, while also leaving an indelible imprint on America’s social history. “Whole New Ballgame” takes a holistic approach to baseball history, using all types of storytelling, from artifacts and photographs to audio/visual productions, putting into context the ever-changing modern game while vividly telling the unforgettable stories of our National Pastime. You can relive your favorite moments through four interactive media walls, which allow visitors to choose highlight reels from the 1970s, 1980 through 1986, 1987 through 1994, and 1995 through the present. The exhibit also features images from the Museum’s unparalleled collection of baseball art and photographs, including a portrait of Tom Seaver by Andy Warhol.
